Currency

The account's currency. It can differ from your business currency.

Opening balance and Opening balance date

The balance on the first day you want Tyms to record. Take it from your bank statement.

Chart of account (optional)

Leave blank and Tyms creates a new account for this bank in your chart of accounts. Choose an existing account to post this bank to one you already use.

💡 Several banks, one ledger account: if you keep two physical accounts but report them as one, link both to the same chart of account.

Add many banks at once

Click Add new bank → Import, download the XLSX template, fill it in, and upload it (CSV, XLS or XLSX, up to 500 rows and 20 MB). Click Analyze to check the file before the banks are created.

Import banks from Excel

Bring in transactions

Option 1: upload a statement. On the bank card click Upload statement. Upload a PDF, CSV, Excel or image file of up to 10 MB; no template is needed. Tyms extracts and categorises each transaction.

Option 2: turn on bank sync. Click ⋮ → Enable Sync on the bank card, choose a platform and click Connect:

  • Stripe Financial Connections for banks in the United States

  • Mono for banks in Nigeria

Bank card menu

Enable Bank Sync

⚠️ If a connection attempt failed, wait 24 hours before trying again. Don't run a statement upload and a sync for the same period at the same time: duplicates aren't always caught, because the same payment can carry a different description from each source.

Check your balances

Bank accounts page

Each card shows the Tyms balance (what's in your books) next to the Bank balance (what the bank reports). When they agree, the button reads Reconcile transactions. When they differ, it turns red and reads Balances don't match: click it to find the gap.

Open a bank to see three tabs: Bank statements, Bank transactions and Bank balances.

Remove a bank

Click ⋮ → Delete on the bank card.
