Adjust stock and stock value

Use an adjustment when your stock count or stock value in Tyms doesn't match reality, for example after breakage, theft, spoilage or a write-down.

Adjust stock (quantity)

  1. Go to Inventory → Adjustments and click Create Inventory Adjustments → Adjust stock.

  2. Under Adjustment details, enter:

    • Reason: why you're adjusting, e.g. Broken in storage.

    • Date, Currency and a Reference, e.g. ADJ-001.

    • An optional Description.

  3. Under Adjustment items, select each item. Tyms shows its Stock available. Enter the Stock change, e.g. -3, and check the New stock.

  4. Check the Accounts:

    • Inventory account: the stock account to adjust.

    • Cost account: where the difference is recorded, e.g. a loss or shrinkage account.

  5. Set the Branch and an optional Project, then click Create and confirm.

Adjust value

Use Adjust value when the quantity is right but the stock is worth more or less, for example after a write-down. Pick the item, check its Current value, and enter the Value change. Tyms shows the New value.

Let Adam do it

Choose Create Inventory Adjustments → Ask Adam and describe what changed, for example "3 Ceramic Mugs broke in storage". Adam prepares the adjustment for you.

See and fix adjustments

The Adjustments list shows each one's Date, Reference, Adjustment Type and Reason. Click ⋮ on a row to Open, Edit or Void it.

When you edit, you can't change the adjustment type, date, branch or items. Void it and create a new one instead.

Tips

  • Write the reason clearly. Your accountant will see it in the audit log.

  • Use a dedicated cost account such as Inventory shrinkage, so losses show clearly in your Profit and Loss.
