Trial Balance and General Ledger

The Trial Balance lists every account's balance to prove your debits equal your credits. The General Ledger shows every entry behind those balances.

Trial Balance

Go to Reports → Trial Balance. Accounts are grouped by type (Asset, Liability, Equity, Revenue, Expense) with their balance for the period. Your accountant will often ask for this report first.

Trial Balance

General Ledger

Go to Reports → General Ledger to see every accounting entry, with these columns:

  • Date, Journal No., Description and Transaction Type

  • Account, Account Type, Account Sub-Type and Parent Account

  • Debit and Credit

  • Currency, Base currency, Exchange Rate and Contact

Use Filter, the date range and Edit columns to focus on what you need, and Export to download.

General Ledger

💡 Tracing a number: filter the General Ledger by account to see exactly which transactions make up a figure on your Profit and Loss or Balance Sheet.
